CAP Act Garners Substantial Support from Drake Group Membership

At the end of the spring semester the entire Drake Group membership was asked to vote for or against the College Athlete Protection Act, a piece of legislation developed by a number of experts on college sports who are closely affiliated with the Drake Group.

Of the 56 members with valid email addresses 39 (68 %) responded. Of those 39 only seven voted no. According to Allen Sack, past president of the Drake Group, “The CAP Act is about education and athletes’ rights, not developing professional sports franchises on campuses.” This year’s membership drive will begin in earnest sometime this summer and target faculty and others who share its mission.
